the mural at 260 5th Street

The mural of the Golden Gate Bridge at 260 5th street, formerly the offices of Bill Graham Presents is no more, via Live Soma and Toasted

But only one blog has figured out who the artist was (this blog now migrated to http://www.artandarchitecture-sf.com/ and also from 2011 updated now for 260 5th street > http://www.artandarchitecture-sf.com/soma-san-francisco-august-1-2011.html

It turns out the that the Historic Preservation Commission did find the artist, David Wehrle, who painted it in 1986, and contacted him and the San Francisco Arts Commission and the San Francisco Mural Resource Center and none of them thought it was worth saving

So here’s my photos of the mural taken a couple of years ago when they first put up the planning commission notice and also the planning commission report with their own photo of it, because these photos are the only place this mural exists today. The building has been razed, goodbye!
