Standing outside a nightclub for more than a few minutes is now banned in San Francisco between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m.
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors on Tuesday passed a prohibition on loitering outside of nightclubs as a way to curb confrontations there.
It requires an initial warning after a person is seen loitering for a given period within 10 feet of the entrance or entry line of a club. It is punishable as an infraction, similar to a parking ticket, upon first offense and as a misdemeanor on the second offense.
The ordinance, proposed by Mayor Gavin Newsom, passed by 9-to-2.
