Beyond Chron. today made this attack on the Chronicle. In fact, the entire website is devoted to attacking the Chronicle. But there’s one little problem. The Chronicle pays for itself, but YOU pay for BeyondChron. whether you like the opinions or not
If I don’t like the opinion of the Chronicle, I just don’t buy the newspaper. With Beyondchron, I don’t have a choice, I, and you, and every other taxpayer in this city has no choice. Your paying for it anyway
Furthermore, does anybody find it a little strange that BeyondChron, run out of Tenderloin Housing Clinic offices, is the ONLY taxpayer funded website that has no comment section?…Even the Chronicle has that. Most other newspapers and blogs have comment sections too. Not Beyondchron. No way, jose, They’re going to take your taxes and provide opinion, and you the taxpayer just better shut up about it
You can see for yourself in the 2005 Tenderloin Housing Clinic federal Non Profit tax form 990, where Beyondchron is listed as an expense

15 million dollar budget, and getting bigger every year. Under federal guidelines, non profits are allowed about 20% for political activities, and THC apparently maxes that out. That means 20% of 15 million dollars is spent campaigning, running websites, political contributions, instead of their stated primary goal of providing ‘supportive housing’, which is why that has become a joke. Alot of people know this, while THC remains baffled as to why they continue to have problems feeding at the public trough
