City lies to chase Farmers Market to Parade
boys and girls,
On Wednesdays and Sundays we have the Civic
Center/UN Plaza Farmers Market. It is a joy
on every level. This Wednesday, guess what
happened?Well, my friend Ania Wierzbowska who goes
there every Wednesday said that when she went to
get the last tomatoes of the season today that
the place: “Looked like a tornado had gone
through.”.She said that the vendor told her that City
employees (hello Amy Brown?) had come to tell the
farmers who had set up at 6am as usual (I shopped
there at 7am and all was well) … that the City
had come by to tell the farmers that they all had
to be out of the place by noon.Seems the asshole City employees claimed that
they had informed the farmers on Monday that they
couldn’t set up there this Wednesday because there
was going to be a parade.Problem is that that’s a lie. The Giants
didn’t even get into the World Series until late
Monday evening. None of the farmers had heard
anything not had their co-op management (a woman
and her son working out of a van for 15 years –
lots cheaper than the staff Brown wanted to hire).This is another attempt by Department of Real
Estate Empire Builder Amy Brown and her aide, John
Upton to drive the farmers out of control of their
own market in UN Plaza. They tried and failed
last year.Wanna know how well Amy runs markets? A
couple of days ago she was before a Board committee
explaining how she was completely re-arranging the
Allemany Market of which she grabbed control a
year or so back. She was busy moving stalls and
raising rents … the place has been in operation
for 100 years and she’s fucking it up.Hands off the UN Plaza Farmers Market!!
The farmers should sue the bitch.
