saw this in Fog city journal link
“According to the survey, 55 percent of respondents said they have experienced some form of abuse while staying at a San Francisco homeless shelter. Verbal abuse was most common, with 44 percent citing it as something they had endured. However, 14 percent said they were victims of physical violence, and 4 percent claimed to have experienced sexual abuse in a city shelter.”
From what I can tell, the Coalition on Homelessness is closely related to Tenderloin Housing Clinic, in that both have people at city hall, both engage in activism, and I’m pretty sure they know each other fairly well. So it’s almost like when they make these reports and protest, they’re doing so about themselves, in a roundabout way. This exact same abuse in this report is what I’ve been documenting here
update, the Chronicle printed the article
I’m really wondering if Rhorer at city hall has seen this stuff yet. Ever get the feeling there’s a disconnect with city hall and reality?
