Golden Gate Bridge 75th Anniversary from Slacker Hill

It was a great show from maybe the best place to see it, the Marin headlands and Slacker hill just above the Golden Gate Bridge. The entire Conzelman Road and Hawk Hill was jam packed and full by 12 noon. The Park service closed Conzelman at 12.30pm so most people that got to see it from the Marin headlands had to get there before noon. They even shut down the road to Sausalito and the tunnel at 6pm so the Marin Headlands was completely shut off.

I took the last 76 Marin Headlands Muni bus with my bike at 6pm and even Muni couldn’t get into the Marin headlands and had to turn around at the north side of the bridge. All access was shut down at that point

Conzelman road was full but there was only about 30 people on top of Slacker Hill, so this is a rare view of the fireworks of the Golden Gate Bridge 75th Anniversary. Laughing Squid has more video

Well worth it

They opened the bridge again just after 10pm and was able to bike across it just in time to catch the very end of the headline show at Chrissy Field, and of course, it is The Mickey Hart band doing the Grateful Dead song Going Down the Road Feeling Bad

The Grateful Dead of course, had this famous album cover of the Golden Gate Bridge from nearly the same place in the Marin headlands. Absolutely perfect!
