Nate Holmes was fired last year for sticking up for his fellow union employees at Tenderloin Housing Clinic and doing his job as shop steward for SEIU local 1021. This isn’t about money, or a new contract, or benefits, or anything like that. It’s about shady management practices at Tenderloin Housing Clinic that affect both the tenants and the employees, and the rights of the employees to speak up when they feel something is wrong
Nate Holmes filed grievances on behalf of other employees, and Randy Shaw fired him. This is what all these protests are about, and the actual grievances filed are coming soon. This is in front of Tenderloin Housing Clinic headquarters, where city funded Beyondchron.org is located. Tenderloin Housing Clinic is the largest recipient of San Francisco city money for housing the homeless and is directly approved by the Board of Supervisors under the SRO Master Leasing program created by Randy Shaw back in 2001
the cops showed up too, after going into Tenderloin Housing Clinic headquarters at 126 Hyde (this is in the video, pt1) and finding out what all the hub-bub was about. They came back out and told the protesters they have every right to protest there, but they were concerned about the neighbors, not THC itself, so they suggested it might be better to go ‘mobile’ a little and not stick around too long in one spot. This was the intention in the first place, to go around the corner to 472 Turk st at the THC housing section, and back and forth, so there never was any problem with the neighbors. In fact, many neighbors supported it, because they are now learning what Randy Shaw is really like

one of the protesters in this demonstration is a resident of Tenderloin Housing Clinic who is protesting some of the very same things that employees are protesting, the same thing I have been protesting for over 8 years. Namely, that Tenderloin Housing Clinic employees should be getting combat pay…why?

This also explains the extremely high turnover rate among Tenderloin Housing Clinic employees,but doesn’t explain why the San Francisco Board of Supervisors keeps approving these contracts, without more controls, more input from the public, who are through their taxes, funding all of this
