local SF political blogger H Brown once owned a nightclub in St Louis. In 1978 a couple of tapes were recorded of the house band, and pretty much any musician that dropped by. Those tapes are now starting to see the light of day for the first time in 30 years.
The tapes are two track, meaning there are two separate tracks on the reel, each a seperate performance in mono, and unless you have the right machine with adjustable heads, you’ll get both tracks at the same time, and possibly tape head azimuth problems. The machine used today had fixed heads, so we’re going to try and find another machine that can do it better soon and get these properly digitized. The machine and transfer of this was done at Ray Andersons Grooves Records on Market and Octavia
this first test run was from the left channel only, digitally separated from the right channel and spliced at 28:30 to the end. The tapes were all recorded in St Louis in 1978
