A whole pile of people parroted the press release from the Mayors office, from online journals to just about every newspaper. SFist seems to have added a question mark after comments pointed out a little problem with the numbers. Some publications caught on a little to the math problem here, while others mentioned the 150,000 without noticing that 150,000 out of 800,000 isn’t 80%
Meraki is doing a good thing, IMHO, but pleeeeze with the claims. I even signed up for a repeater myself since I live high enough to cover a good area, right in the very same Tenderloin area Meraki and the Mayors office is claiming to be expanding right now. Meraki never answered back
