In honor of Jerry Garcia’s 70th birthday today, David Crosby wrote a poem. There’s also a live birthday broadcast on friday and the official Jerry Day in San Francisco is on Sunday
David Crosby and Jerry Garcia and most of the Grateful Dead were in a band together in late 1970 called David and the Dorks and they also recorded at Wally Heider studios at 245 Hyde in the Tenderloin. David Crosby’s album If Only I Could remember My name was recorded at Wally Heiders as was the Grateful Deads American Beauty. They often sat in each others session along with much of the Jefferson Airplane which resulted in the famous PERRO sessions aka, the Planet Earth Rock and Roll Orchestra
