just kidding. What this is, is one of my favorite live clips. It’s Manfred Manns Eath Band, doing Neil Youngs Castles Burning in Moscow in 2000
The guitar player, Mick Rogers isn’t really well known outside of the band (although he played with Zappa and Jeff beck before and there’s even a It’s A Beautiful Day connection with Tom Fowler in this article)
This particular clip shows the band at their finest, and they are well known in Europe for their live shows, and are playing next month in Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland. For me, Mick Rogers and his guitar solo is the highlight of this clip, because it looks like there’s no place he’d rather be than right there. The look of bliss and happiness at certain points. The outstanding musicianship that really comes from years of experience shows here. He almost looks like my 5th grade schoolteacher and he can’t believe he’s getting paid for this…hehe
Manfred Mann isn’t one of my favorite bands, though they have their moments, but this song, and they do it in almost every show in different ways, is one of their moments
I just love this guitar solo
