Still it’s a bit annoying, and it’s mostly the principle of the matter, namely censorship

this is highly suspicious…This below post I made got immediately flagged and removed on craigslist rants and rave section, entitled > re: re: complete critical mass video online

it’s in this section…or was

yet I checked with an attorney friend and read the terms, and there’s nothing there I can see to warrant removal…Except maybe that I accidentally caught Matt Gonzales jaywalking today on video..If that’s the case, it’s a dirty lowdown trick at censorship with the craigslist community

Seriously, I voted for Matt Gonzales, and I still wish he was mayor…But damn, censoring something like that just because…that’s not right…I’m a lifelong biker, and I’m the first to admit that bikers run red lights…so do drivers…I just didn’t catch a driver today, that’s all. I really, really hope this was not removed for political reasons. I hope it was some other reason I missed.

I said it before and I’ll say it again. I bought the video equipment to show what it is really like to bike in San Francisco. I’ve seen all kinds of shit in 20 years, 15 years as a bike messenger, and for better or worse, dammit, I want to edit any videos as little as possible, because otherwise you lose credibility…you know, like some news organizations who edit down to a few seconds out of context?..

I’ve been doored dozenss of times, run off the road and onto the sidewalk by buses maybe hundreds times in 20 years, and all of this I wish, oh god I wish I had that on video, because you would be in for a shock. Consider this a good faith effort to try an accurately record a few regular minutes in downtown San Francisco and nothing else..A good faith effort because it does involve my theoretical side of the political spectrum

What do you want me to do, edit out possibly embarrassing things on a public street if it involves only people YOU like?..or we like?…Am I a traitor now? eh?…tomorrow I can videotape 30 drivers running red lights too, you know…I’ve seen it many times before in my 20 years of biking in this city

this is the post >>>>>

well, to answer the question, it’s because I was in the middle of it. One of the things I never saw mentioned before is that critical mass is about the only time a biker feels safe in this city. It’s like a mini oasis. It’s also sort of like when everybody on the freeway is doing 75 in a 55, and one person tries to go the speed limit at 55, ends up hearing nothing but honking horns all day, even tho that one person is the only one who’s legal.

yeah, it’s technically scofflaws for one night a month, but if stopping critical mass at all stoplights is really a concern, then the police need to do it, because I’m sure not going to stop and have people behind me pile up..If there’s a flow, one person like me isn’t going to stop it. In fact, during one segment the police themselves were right beside me running the same red lights, who am I to argue?

speaking of scofflaws, I caught the former mayoral candidate Matt Gonzales jaywalking through a red light this morning, and I got a video of that on my blog too > https://www.bluoz.com/blog/
If a former candidate front runner for mayor can’t do it, and right in front of the police station at 850 bryant too, just about, and on his way to court of all things, then who can?

snip from previous post on Craigslist rants and raves sec

Can you explain to us why you were riding the wrong direction on Market Street (and other places) and why you went through red lights that didn’t appear to be blocked by police? I’m not trying to be a prick, but that kind of riding is what a lot of people are upset by. It’s funny that you’d post a video of yourself breaking the law…

Granted, despite the minor lawbreaking, it did look like a peaceful ride.

I don’t remember if that exact CM was one that I participated in – I have done it a few times, but a shattered leg from getting hit while on my motorcycle [the car was to blame, and a security camera proved it in court, so no ball busting about lane splitting or speeding from the peanut gallery, please… the guy ran a red light] has made riding nearly impossible, but when I did, I rode within the law, as did the 20+- other people I was with.

I’m just curious about your rational.

I made a video September 29th, 2006, of a nearly entire critical mass riding a bike..Nearly unedited too.

https://www.bluoz.com/blog/index.php?/archives/74-critical-mass-san-francisco-bike-bullet-cam.html

you can see for yourself, at least it used to be peaceful, 6 months ago.
