{"id":1297,"date":"2011-07-11T14:16:08","date_gmt":"2011-07-11T14:16:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bluoz.com\/blog\/?p=1297"},"modified":"2022-09-21T09:40:46","modified_gmt":"2022-09-21T16:40:46","slug":"the-mars-hotel-at-4th-and-howard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bluoz.com\/blog\/2011\/07\/11\/the-mars-hotel-at-4th-and-howard\/","title":{"rendered":"The Mars Hotel at 4th and Howard"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Update 2022, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DavidGallagher\/status\/1572278141107990528\" title=\"more photos posted on Twitter\">more photos posted on Twitter<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The San Francisco public library <a href=\"http:\/\/sflib1.sfpl.org:82\/record=b1007241~S0\">historical photo collection<\/a> has one single photo of the Mars hotel at 192 4th street at the corner of 4th and Howard, where the Moscone Center is today. 3rd and 4th streets near Mission and Howard was a low income area in the 60&#8217;s and 70&#8217;s similar to 6th street today and was demolished to make way for the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Moscone_Center\">Moscone Center<\/a> in the 80&#8217;s<\/p>\n<p>This photo is dated November 14, 1963, at the corner of 4th and Howard &#8211; S. F. David Rubinson, who owned the Automatt, was the second manager for <a href=\"http:\/\/deephousepage.com\/forums\/showthread.php?t=20305&#038;page=1\">Moby Grape<\/a> and produced a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mixonline.com\/bay-area-legends\/david-rubinson\/\">ton of bands<\/a>.
