Slab City, California is near the Salton Sea and is full of interesting people who seek the alternative lifestyle. The only problem is it's next to a military bombing range although they don't bomb nearby, they do often have helicopter excersises nearby so it can get noisy sometimes. Also very hot in summer. Other than that, it's worth a visit
Just after Salvation Mountain, this is the first sign that indicates you're getting close to the nether regions
Much has been written about Salvation Mountain so there's not much to add since Leonard Knight died, except some photos. It's still there and there's still people helping to keep it going
This is a team of USGS scientists exploring a newly discovered earthquake fault in Box Canyon, California which is inside the Mecca Hills Wilderness area
You can see the Salton Sea in the background
They pointed out a part of the fault just 100 meter away where you can actually see it and it's right in the middle on this hillside where the rocks change direction
The California poppy, the state flower at the Antelope Valley Poppy Preserve
