basically, for those not in the know, this isn't the same as recording at tape or CD quality even tho it's in MP3 'lossy' >>> (the primary recording is the most important, which includes the quality of the microphones used'...You can't get any kind of good quality recording without any of these important basic elements..when a recording is done strictly 24 bit 94 khz then transferred directly to MP3, you're bypassing the CD quality 16 bit - 44khz Redbook standard and going directly to MP3, which isn't a normal process at all :) (it forces a higher bitrate that would not be there going through the normal channels)...from 4.6 megabits per second, direct to mp3

The opening sequence is actually the sound check, and if you listen closely you can hear the drums going up and down the EQ field at the soundboard, more bass, less bass, more bass at 40hz, etc...It's a good example of how the soundboard and the speakers control the sound, and if they don't do a good job, any audience recording won't be as good either....This time they did a good job

Pablo Cruise definitely has the chops, and my personal opinion it's mostly outside of the 'hits' as a jam band..Or rather they can take the songs to more places than what's on the albums..they can jam when they really want to...Very good band, IMHO

best of all, they have a sense of humor about themselves, and their own music

I wouldn't call Pablo Cruise ' soft rock' exactly, these days, even though that's where they made all their money...It seems they worked around that quite well

As usual SF misses the point: the reason no one shops on mid-Market has nothing to do with bikes or cars (as if any sane person would drive down Market looking for a place to park so he can nip into a shop anyway): it San Francisco's policy of maintaining that area as a wildlife preserve for the feral homeless. Why would anyone want to run that gauntlet to buy things that are on sale in much safer and more salubrious areas all over the Bay Area?

This little project was started partly because of this SFist article incorrectly proclaiming Junior to be the oldest bike messenger in San Francisco. The truth is that there are five bike messengers in San Francisco over the age of 60 with Junior being the youngest out of all five. Assembled in one place for the first time, here are all five of the senior bike messengers in San Francisco, starting with the oldest

Mike Freeman, age 67
Mike has been bike messengering for nearly 30 years since the mid 1980's..His first job was was with Aero, the second bike messenger company ever in San Francisco







Alex, 64

Alex has also been a bike messenger for many many years







Magic Mike, 62

Magic Mike has been an institution at Western Messenger for at least 20 years. He says that he would probably be in far worse shape if he wasn't biking all day, every day



Roger, 61

probably in the best shape of all of these guys, Roger can usually out race many of the younger 20 year olds




Junior, 61

Junior is apparently just a few months younger than Roger. However Junior has been a bike messenger the longest out of anyone in San Francisco. Junior's first job was with Sparkys in 1968. Sparkys was the first messenger company in San Francisco. They wore brownish uniforms a little like UPS drivers. Sparkys later became Aero messenger in the 70's and then was eventually bought out in the 90's by a group of messenger companies

And Junior is his legal name



This is for all the people who think being a bike messenger is a young persons job. These guys are out there every day, all day, biking 10-20-30-40 miles a day. They do it because it keeps them in shape, and it should be an inspiration to everyone, young and old, and not just bike messengers

Actually, it's stunning to see anything in the night sky, since it's the first fogless night in almost 2 months. But the real shocker comes in 12 hours, when this big bright thing comes blazing across the sky. It's called the sun. Do not be alarmed. That is supposed to be there

Club 6 patrons at 1:20am this morning. In the video one Club 6 member asks me for money to video tape, and then you can hear the DJ yelling about how the old guy upstairs has been complaining. That would be Jim Ayers, who lives directly above where this crowd is yelling. Basically, Club 6 staff and patrons are going out of their way to disturb the neighbors now, after three years of complaints

this first became news three years ago and also mentioned on this blog where you can hear an audio interview with Jim Ayers

Club 6 is now intentionally trying to make the neighbors miserable This wasn't people leaving either. These people specifically came out side and targeted senior citizens living directly above them, yelling as loud as they can for more than one hour, then they went back inside and partied some more



Shame on you, Angel Cruz. There's a special place in hell for people who target senior citizens

update, this is the same spot during the day. Yes there are people that live directly above where these people were yelling at 1am
