Beach Motel to stay as tourist motel

The Beach Motel at 4201-4211 Judah Street will stay as a tourist motel after winning before the Board of Appeals rehearing on August 22, 2012

Randy Shaw and Tenderloin Housing Clinic lost this case after decades of litigation but this latest win for the Beach isn't being posted on Beyondchron. The last time Randy Shaw wrote about it was April 9, 2012 and April 12, 2012 It has been posted on Zacks and Friedman, who are the attorneys for the Beach

long lines at free day for California Academy of Sciences

The line to get into the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park as part of free Sundays was about 1/4 mile long today at around noon

It snaked all the way over to JFK drive

first digital camera 10 years ago today

On September 5, 2002, I bought my first digital camera, a Sony DSC-S75 which I still have today. back then it was 360 dollars, and considered high end for a point and shoot and the first one that was able to have an attached wide angle lens. It was a whopping 3.2 megapixels and and came with an 8mb memory stick!. 10 years later you can still buy the camera on Amazon, but now it's just 30 buckst They don't even make the memory sticks anymore, which was a max 128mb. Ironically, point and shoots haven't gotten much better except for zoom lenses, despite getting 12 megapixels plus now. I still think this Sony has better colors and contrast than many 2012 cameras

That day I just went around town and took a bunch of shots and all of them are in this Flickr set

MJ Isabell gets attacked - again

Tenderloin photography crusader MJ Isabell got her camera broken again a few days ago, but not before the attacker pulled his pants down and started waving it around right on the sidewalk in front of 201 Turk

Balboa street community garden

Most people probably don't know that the Balboa Street Community Garden is actually in the middle of Balboa Street. It's more challenging to get your veggies while dodging traffic and the veggie tosser at the same time
