Jerry Miller gets flooded
San Francisco originals Moby Grape have seen unbelievable losses over the last 40 years...Now this
(Jerry is lower left, sitting)
UPDATE > there's a benefit show up in Washington

On January 9, 2009, the town of Pacific, Washington was flooded when the Army Corps
of Engineers mistakenly released too much water from a dam upstream. There was
no warning of the impending flood and town residents, including legendary
guitarist Jerry Miller, had 5 minutes to make their escape. That was just enough
time to save Beulah (his lifelong favorite guitar), an old amp, and his dog. All
other worldly possessions, including 40 years of rock memorabilia, are gone.
The memorabilia is priceless and irreplaceable. But life goes on. And so do
life's needs. The Army Corps of Engineers has admitted its error and the
government has promised aid to the flood victims. But Katrina has taught us not
to bank on government promises.
Jerry has to start over, and is in need of the basic necessities of life.
Nearby friends have donated clothing, but he has yet to secure a new residence
and the cost of living in a motel is creating an extreme hardship. Plans are
underway for a benefit concert and new unreleased recordings will soon be for
sale along with autographed CDs. But in the meantime, cash is in short supply.
A flood relief fund has been set up to accept donations via PayPal. Because
Jerry has yet to find permanent housing, mailing checks is not a viable option.
If you have PayPal account, you know what to do. Donors who do not have a PayPal
account can click on the "Donate" button and follow simple
instructions to use either a checking account or credit card to send money. The
money will be delivered instantly – a great help at this time! 100% of the
donations will go directly to Jerry Miller (minus the nominal PayPal fee).
As we all know, Jerry has a generous heart and would be the first to come to
the aid of friends in need. We thank you in advance for doing the same for him.

Market Street is thriving
Mike Sugarman on KCBS recently did an audio report called Thriving Market on Market Street
alternate link
In it, he walks down Market street describing the market on the street itself. It starts off with rugs, watches for 5 bucks, cell phone cases for 10 bucks,, cigarettes for 2.50, then quickly gets into crack, heroin, pills
