I've had the cam up for years and no problem, and I was here long before THC and never signed a lease
this comes two days after myself and Randy Shaw were interviewed on Quake Radio mp3
see 8-7-07 > podcast library

example, this IS a violation of this same house rule, by somebody who DID sign a lease. This guy not only is still here, they moved him to another room
and this was police evidence too, so basically THC wants to suppress police evidence now

Tenderloin housing Clinic, in fact, has had their own security cameras for a couple of years (I think they got the idea from me), All of the incidents in the common areas should have been recorded by their own cameras, but THC has either been unable or unwilling to find those tapes. They actually had to come to me for evidence they couldn't find on their own security system. Ironic
This quote comes from Sam Patel, who owns many buildings around here, this one included. from March 19, 2007 South of Market Project Area Committee (SOMPAC)
Mr. Patel referred to the installation of security cameras and wanted to know if this is a
requirement of the tenant or the property owner. He wanted to know if we would be
requiring a tenant who applies for a grant to install a security system, and he wondered if
members realize how expensive these systems could be. Mr. Melone stated that
security and loitering is a vital concern at these locations. Security is the weakest link
and it should be the strongest.
A member of the public stated that the occurrence of gunshots has risen dramatically for
those creating a living with a business on 6th Street. Business owners should not be
required to run people off from in front of their business because this puts them in
danger and what we really need is to see is more police on 6th Street.

Well, sounds like you are violating no laws, no privacy rights and in fact, you are doing a 'good service' to reduce crime and protect property and people's lives which are all being funded by tax dollars.
YOU ARE OUR HERO !! Only some one with something to hide would NOT want cameras in the hallway.
One of the Shelter Monitoring Committee Members (unpaid people that help homeless people in shelters) was assaulted at an SRO for no good reason and their cameras were NOT working. If you had been living on that floor near that area you could have been CRUCIAL to solving that case.
It's too bad that every tenant does not have $50 to be able to put their own, reliable cameras outside of EVERY DOOR in EVERY SRO, since we've been researching this, we come to discover that tax dollars are basically subsidizing unsafe, harmful places where even more money is being spent per resident on emergency services than even our somewhat notrorious shelters.
Through in Landlord Harrassment, Neglect of Duty to Enforce Laws and City and Building Policies and you appear to have a GIANT LAW SUIT COCKTAIL with blame to go to the management, building owners and teh City itself for NOT 'doing the right thing' by our people and WORSE, because they appear to be 'looking the other way' and DOING THE WRONG THING resulting in preventable harm, abuse and possible premature death to any one of us that may be living in a tax funded SRO.
TSK, TSK, TSK..... Let's take the contracts and buildings away from the bad, neglectful, hateful and corrupt service providers and landlords and give those opportunities to improve lives, health and safety to OTHER organizations that TRULY CARE and are PROACTIVE about reducing risks, abuse, violence and drug dealing in ALL OF OUR SHELTERS AND SRO's AND HOTELS....
We are BEHIND YOU 100%. KUDOS TO YOU FOR STANDING UP FOR YOURSELF AGAINST BAD PEOPLE...
