The shocking document the Chronicle doesn't want you to see, because if you link to this page or the document, they will delete it from SFGate and possibly ban you. So why would the San Francisco Chronicle not want you to see a commendation signed by the Board of Supervisors and the Mayor?. SF Citizen also has a spiffy writeup and SF Appeal has an article posted now

late season oysters in San Francisco
the photos are from yesterday and these oyster mushrooms are fruiting right now at an undisclosed community garden in San Francisco. They will likely be donated to a food bank shortly after having reached maturity, depending on how bad the upcoming freeze is..The oysters were planted 3 years ago and are still fruiting despite being dug up and replanted in new planter boxes six months ago...estimated to be about 4 pounds in this latest batch
update > the oysters are now harvested and will be given out Sunday at the Free Farm Stand

the Bermuda Triangle of Cray
Hey!...That's supposed to be top sekret!. Because the city is totally committed to revitalizing Mid-Market, you know

but I guess it can't be kept secret, no matter how much the San Francisco oligarchy tries to whitewash it

Haight Ashbury Recycling Center hearing at the Board of Supervisors
This is 4 hours of hearings at the Board of Supervisors City Operations & Neighborhood Services Committee, February 14, 2011, regarding the eviction of the Haight Ashbury Recycling Center on March 3, 20011. Among the testimony is formerly homeless people who have gotten jobs at the recycling center and are now stabilized. I worked at the recycling center in the 1980's and also was homeless at the time and haven't been homeless since then
There's also a discussion about the HANC recycling center at ResetSF and HANC on facebook
get silverlight here if you can't see the video

there's actually only one publicly accessible spot in the whole bay area where you can get this shot, unless you're maybe on a boat, and it's not very well known. care to guess?

Randy Shaw's containment zone
Midnight on Thursday night, 6th and Stevenson. February 3rd, Social Security Disability payday
the crowds have gathered outside of Randy Shaw's Tenderloin Housing Clinic, to the right, and all of them are here for dope, which is supplied by residents inside the building. They are camped out against neighboring businesses like Passion Cafe, to the left, and they are there all night long until DPW and the police come by around 8am. Many of them are already housed
This is a containment zone within a containment zone, and every nearby resident and business is affected by it and some have already closed because of it. This is why it won't matter how many businesses are coaxed into the area, because this will never go away until Randy Shaw is gone, and people like him who also run containment zones downtown

We are The New Tenderloin and We are SERIOUS!!!
This is the headline on a youtube video posted 3 days ago by MJofSanFran. This 65 year old videographer was the subject of a Chronicle article two years ago and since then has posted many videos on the street in the lower Tenderloin
In the latest video, you can hear people talking about her video equipment and at the end, she's attacked
subtext: A visual message to the San Francisco Planning Commission

Google, Twitter, Saynow join to provide Speak2Tweet for Egypt

Google offers voice-tweeting service for Egyptians
IDG News Service - SayNow may be better known for helping the Jonas Brothers and the NBA leave short voicemail messages for their fans, but on Monday it found another purpose: helping Egyptians communicate with the rest of the world.
Google, which purchased SayNow just last week, has hacked together a "speak-to-tweet service" for Egyptians who still have working telephones but who can't connect with Twitter because ISPs in the country were ordered to disconnect from the Internet.
The last remaining major ISP (Internet service provider), Noor Group, abruptly disconnected its service on Monday.
"[A]nyone can tweet by simply leaving a voicemail on one of these international phone numbers ... and the service will instantly tweet the message using the hashtag #egypt," Google said in a blog posting. "No Internet connection is required."
Egypt in Turmoil
The speak-to-tweet service automatically puts the voicemail on a Web page that is then linked in a Twitter message posted to Google's Speak2tweet Twitter account.
By Monday afternoon Pacific Time, the service was posting new Twitter messages every few minutes -- many of them in Arabic -- including commentary and reports from Egypt.
It's one of several alternative techniques that have been set up to keep Egyptians connected as people take to the streets to call for democratic reforms to the unpopular government of President Hosni Mubarak.
