Tenderloin Housing Clinic now wants me to take the webcam down. Not only has the management used the videos I have taken of tenants actually violating that same lease, but the police have also. I think THC wants to suppress evidence now, or they don't want anybody to know the violence that happens here.
I've had the cam up for years and no problem, and I was here long before THC and never signed a lease
this comes two days after myself and Randy Shaw were interviewed on Quake Radio mp3
see 8-7-07 > podcast library
example, this IS a violation of this same house rule, by somebody who DID sign a lease. This guy not only is still here, they moved him to another room
and this was police evidence too, so basically THC wants to suppress police evidence now
Tenderloin housing Clinic, in fact, has had their own security cameras for a couple of years (I think they got the idea from me), All of the incidents in the common areas should have been recorded by their own cameras, but THC has either been unable or unwilling to find those tapes. They actually had to come to me for evidence they couldn't find on their own security system. Ironic
This quote comes from Sam Patel, who owns many buildings around here, this one included. from March 19, 2007 South of Market Project Area Committee (SOMPAC)
Mr. Patel referred to the installation of security cameras and wanted to know if this is a
requirement of the tenant or the property owner. He wanted to know if we would be
requiring a tenant who applies for a grant to install a security system, and he wondered if
members realize how expensive these systems could be. Mr. Melone stated that
security and loitering is a vital concern at these locations. Security is the weakest link
and it should be the strongest.
A member of the public stated that the occurrence of gunshots has risen dramatically for
those creating a living with a business on 6th Street. Business owners should not be
required to run people off from in front of their business because this puts them in
danger and what we really need is to see is more police on 6th Street.
