bleeding on the sidewalk
Update!..this person has been released from the hospital. He is going to be OK, except for a huge headache.. security tapes have been given to the police
Udpate 2...police came by and arrested one of the assailants today. the resident of THC who caused problems before as logged below. Not sure who the guy is who did the kicking yet tho
resident of Tenderloin Housing Clinic laying on the sidewalk bleeding from the back of his head today. He got kicked in the head, but he'll survive. You can hear people say 'blood is pouring out of his head"..This guy is in the hospital now. A lot of people didn't think he'd make it
crime scene. Notice there's a guy with a video camera. You don't usually see these unless they think there's going to be a death, right?. Does he work for the police?
update. It's another resident of tenderloin Housing Clinic who assaulted this guy. This is angle 1 and doesn't show the first assault yet
angle2 > see the guy in the brown coat take the first swing.
It's the same guy with a crowbar a few days ago
same guy who assaulted this other resident
this guy is going to kill somebody one of these days and he came close to it today. Police made it a crime scene, and they don't know who did it yet. There is now blood on Randy Shaws hands. Management has been warned about this guy before

and finally, here is the complete "Pizza tapes" hour tape from the pizza place, starting 7 minutes before the incident, and shows everything, the good Samaritans and how quickly they responded, how quickly the ambulance came by, the cleanup. Yep, even here on 6th street, people do care. Should be a case study
One thing to remember, this was a near accident that the tapes were recovered. The pizza people don't know how to use their own machine, believe it or not, and if I hadn't know this happened, and if the pizza guy didn't call his boss, this assailant probably would have gotten away with it and lived at THC for years and nobody would have ever known. Because nobody knew who did this,, until this tape was recovered
and angle 2

Save the Peaks
video i took last year. almost by accident. This is about the San Francisco peaks in Arizona, just north of Flagstaff. Only time I ever saw a protest go around the block in front of here. They were protesting at the US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals on 7th and walked down to 6th street and around to Mission. One of the larger protests I've seen too in front of there
this video is also now at their official website too

tahoe fire

click image for local updates and where the photo came from
P.S. I once worked on the Forks of Salmon fire, 1987 while in the National Guard. 90,000 acres, but that was mostly ground fire. Not the inferno like this one
I remember the oxygen tents!

there's a new committee in town
and they don't need no steenking badges
passed by the board of supes today > Shelter Monitoring Committee Item number 12, you can download the PDF there or here
It says shelters, meaning regular shelters for homeless, but it should include non profit contractors such as THC and TNDC too.
I would like to find out for sure if it includes that
Ordinance amending sections 20.302, 20.303, 20.304, and 20.312 of the San Francisco Administrative Code to: 1) require the Department of Public Health to provide administrative support for the Shelter Monitoring Committee; 2) broaden the purpose of the Shelter Monitoring Committee by authorizing it to assess City policies that affect shelter clients; 3) require Committee members to keep certain information confidential; 4) designate divisions within the Department of Human Services and the Department of Public Health from which Committee members may be appointed; 5) require City departments to respond to reasonable requests for information from the Shelter Monitoring Committee within 15 days, and 6) eliminate the Committee's obligation to prepare annual reports with the Local Homeless Coordinating Board.
4/10/2007, SUBSTITUTED. Supervisor Mirkarimi submitted a substitute ordinance bearing new title.
6/19/2007, PASSED ON FIRST READING.

tied up housing
this quote comes from Tribe.net, who gives a shit
think SF should just buy an inland town and give the welfare handouts and dispense pure pharmaceuticals to registered addicts there. Instead, the City houses probationers next to the tourist zone (since no other neighborhood would tolerate that), and nonprofit housing has tied up thousands of apartments for people who don't *have* to be or work downtown.
Indeed, Tenderloin Housing Clinic does in fact take housing stock away from working people and convert SRO's into solely welfare hotels. This building used to house ONLY working people. Since THC took over management, it now houses ONLY welfare people. You cannot rent from here if you already have a job.
In fact, when I first moved here in 1995, I couldn't get in unless I had a job, and I did. there was over 100 working people here at least, and probably more. In 2001, when it was sold to the Patels, and then taken over by THC, nearly all of the working people have left, and some of them told me they left because they got disgusted at how far downhill the place got.
That's pretty much why Tenderloin Housing Clinic will not allow working people in here. Because if they did, the complaints would skyrocket, and there would likely be numerous lawsuits. So they have to make this exclusively welfare, where everybody is browbeaten into submission, and nobody complains
they didn't count on me tho. I'm stubborn :)
All working people should be extremely concerned about this, as housing prospects are slowly being eaten away by Randy Shaw.. Kind of ironic for a 'tenant advocate', huh?

why Randy Shaw is deluded
Why Randy Shaw is either deluded or lying. This is in reference to this article in BeyondChron
In it, Randy Shaw makes this quote "As important a role as the police have played in making a staggering number of arrests, neighborhood safety would not be enhanced without other positive changes in the community (Eric: at positive changes link to http://www.beyondchron.org/news/index.php?itemid=4535). These changes are both physical ---the replacement of problem businesses with positive retail, the building of housing on vacant lots, the elimination of bus shelters used for drug dealing, the transformation of SRO’s from drug-infested hovels to well-maintained supportive housing---and service-oriented. (snip) These “other parts of the equation” include the many city-funded case managers, psychiatric outreach workers, homeless shelter staff, youth service providers, mental health counselors and the many other positions whose work reduces crime and violence in San Francisco.
Bullshit. remember this guy?
Not only did Tenderloin Housing clinic NOT do anything about this, but the only thing they did do was tell him that I took that video. Not only is he still here, but this same guy, more than a month later, was outside my door last night at 1:am with a crowbar. So what are residents doing with crowbars anyway?. I'd show more, but I've been threatened by these people before
There is no support in this supportive housing. The only thing Tenderloin Housing Clinic supports, is more crime, and this is the proof
The fact is, Tenderloin Housing Clinic has a 15 million dollar budget already, and hires fewer people than Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation who has only 11 million dollar budget?..why is that?
If THC wanted to, they could increase not only pay raises for their current workers, but hire more of them, but they simply refuse to, and instead go begging to City hall

Chris Daly statement
posted on SF Gov today, I just want to respond to this last part Daly said " I further challenge the press to cover the real news that should be alarming San Franciscans--- and that is not whether or not the Mayor has been doing cocaine--- but whether or not San Franciscans who are most vulnerable have access to proper health services. Regardless of income, San Franciscans with substance abuse problems should have the support and services to overcome their addiction, and homeless individuals should be given a dignified respite from the streets."
Yep, indeed, that should be alarming San Franciscans, but not for the same reason you think, Chris.. What's alarming is people with substance abuse are not getting the treatment now, so why would anybody think funding increases or decreases would make any difference at all?. Maybe these 'supportive housing' places and substance abuse centers should start doing their job with the current funding instead of spending all that time on political campaigning, eh?. Maybe that should happen FIRST, then they get more funding. Doesn't that seem fair?

exposing Beyond Chrons true agenda in Chronicle bashing
Beyond Chron. today made this attack on the Chronicle. In fact, the entire website is devoted to attacking the Chronicle. But there's one little problem. The Chronicle pays for itself, but YOU pay for BeyondChron. whether you like the opinions or not
If I don't like the opinion of the Chronicle, I just don't buy the newspaper. With Beyondchron, I don't have a choice, I, and you, and every other taxpayer in this city has no choice. Your paying for it anyway
Furthermore, does anybody find it a little strange that BeyondChron, run out of Tenderloin Housing Clinic offices, is the ONLY taxpayer funded website that has no comment section?...Even the Chronicle has that. Most other newspapers and blogs have comment sections too. Not Beyondchron. No way, jose, They're going to take your taxes and provide opinion, and you the taxpayer just better shut up about it
You can see for yourself in the 2005 Tenderloin Housing Clinic federal Non Profit tax form 990, where Beyondchron is listed as an expense
download the THC form 990 here (PDF)
15 million dollar budget, and getting bigger every year. Under federal guidelines, non profits are allowed about 20% for political activities, and THC apparently maxes that out. That means 20% of 15 million dollars is spent campaigning, running websites, political contributions, instead of their stated primary goal of providing 'supportive housing', which is why that has become a joke. Alot of people know this, while THC remains baffled as to why they continue to have problems feeding at the public trough

the lovely women of Tenderloin Housing Clinic
in this post, if these two lovely ladies look familiar, it's because it's the exact same two as last months More Mayhem at Tenderloin Housing Clinic. At the time, Yolandra in this post at the bottom is wearing the white sports shirt
update 12:45pm, next day,
same person, different day, next day
So I'm confused here, because I consider myself a progressive, but I don't support this. Now, if Randy Shaw and Tenderloin Housing Clinic support this, and they consider themselves progressives, and if THC is a major booster of Chris Daly and he is also a progressive and also supports this, then what exactly is a progressive, and how has this definition changed over the years?...I mean, don't take it from me, look at all the people posting here Egads!...other people have noticed too?
Anyway, this happened around midnight
and sure enough, a couple hours later, around 2am, here come the cops, once again. I lost track of how many time the police came to this area because of her
earlier in the day
Now here's a lady that probably defines 'welfare queen'. She's been on welfare for as long as I can remember. probably over 5 years now, which I think is the limit, so I bet there's probably fraud, and a former tenant rep once told me she has a criminal record too. Anyway, she likes to yell out the window to the crackheads below, and lately it's gotten a lot worse
Here's another view, where Yolandra has a message for the taxpayers of San Francisco. She knows San Francisco will keep her on welfare the rest of our lives. She knows it, and you know it. This is what Tenderloin Housing Clinic and Paul Hogarth and Randy Shaw mean by 'supportive housing'
and finally ....well...the progressive statement of the year?

mostly for my own reference SFist posted another story on this

Ilha Das Flores
June 18, 2007
This could be video of the century. Usually regarded as one of the top twenty short films of all time , I helped make the subtitles for this during the last year, with the help of four people in Brazil, UK, and Japan. Up until now this was not available with English subs, except for one other site. The video itself is from an obscure French dvd with French overdubs, but it's better quality video. The text is based on the original Brazil/Portuguese script, which we got copy of last year and spent about 3 months transferring text files back and forth and redoing this again and again. Our credits are at the end of the movie in the subs.. The original Portuguese Brazilian version on lower quality VHS with embedded English subs is here.
One of the best shorts I've ever seen. Enjoy Ilha Das Flores, Isle of Flowers, 1990, Jorge Furtado

Bambi Meets Godzilla
video of the day. What really killed the idealism of the 60's
Warning! Once you see this, you can never go back!

Split Pea Seduction
just a little plug for Split Pea Seduction, a new food place to open on the second block of 6th Street recently. Haven't tried the soup yet, but it smells and looks great, and the people seem very nice and so far they seem to be doing OK. This is the kind of business I'd like to see more of on 6th Street. I hope they make it
