Ospreys at Mono Lake

Ospreys aren’t common to Mono Lake and only started showing up in the 1980’s. Normally they like the tops of trees to nest, but Mono Lake tufas will do. Osprys nest in the spring and summer at Mono Lake and spend winters in Mexico

This is the tufa where the osprey is nesting. It is a very famous photo that others have done many times. You can see the nest in the middle
